GearFest UK 2023
This Sunday, July 16, ended the second and last day of the largest audio event in London UK... GearFest UK 2023...
This year seemed to me to be a year where the speakers shined.
I especially loved the MUM-8, probably one of the best mastering grade speakers I have ever heard, designed by Mark and James of Present Day Production, also I can heard the Musikelectronic Geithain cardiod coaxial speakers presented by our friend John from Sound-Link and seemed excellent to me, very natural and balanced. I was also able to audition the Ex Machina Soundworks which I found absolutely fantastic speakers, and finally I was able to listen to a Dolby Atmos set up with the new Focal ST6 series and they sound stunning.
I got the honour and pleasure to meet Kristof from HUM Audio, the designer of my favorite mastering limiter LAAL in person, I can only say good things about his gear and audio tools designs, I think If you already now didn´t demo the LAAL limiter and you are a mastering engineer, you should book a demo session to experience in my opinion the ultimate mastering limiter ever made, here in the UK, Abbey Road Studios, Metropolis, Audio Animals among other major mastering studios added this beast to their racks because once you try it you just love it! In my experience I try many analog limiters but never something that sound this way, LAAL is to me by far the best limiter I ever use, definitely will be in our studio on our analog mastering chain as soon as we can have it.
The event coincided with the 20th anniversary of KMR Audio, one of our trusted dealers here in the UK.
This edition of the event was a great experience, it was full of novelties and many very innovative and excellent audio tools in terms of quality.
