Hi every one. I want to post this excellent article about Mattew Herbert, because I feel a lot of people nowadays are very confused and lost (which is normal with all misinformation, prejudices, fake or half truths about the "Right Way" music production has to be done and I think this article and the way Mattew Herbert produce music broke all those fake paradigms. The same happens with Lee Scratch Perry the legendary musician and producer from Jamaica, and many other artist and producers that teach us an important lesson trough their music about the way to don´t be attached to any restricted or absurd rule to make music and why the final result is the only that matters! Mattew broke all the rules, starting with the fact that he change the entire studio equipment and his location every 3 years, sample Pig Noises and many other kind of sounds to created textures and unique soundscapes that at the end build amazing songs... So I really think all that misconceptions like you have to restrict the use of certain tools or methods to an only few and if you put 20 plugins in a track is kind of a sin or very very bad because shows your lack of knowledge as a producer or the absurd way to think of some engineers about topics like produce or mixing in the box or with vintage analog gear is better or worst, to be honest I think is an entire waste of time and artist like him like Mattew confirm that. I work with an hybrid set up, other people in the box, other people with vintage consoles and others in Garage Band in a laptop and at the end the most important is the music the final result! If the creativity the emotions and the energy is there who freaking care about the process that´s why in my personal opinion there´s no rules in music production, just different approaches....don´t you think?
